Isabel Mullarney
In my practice, I experiment with a variety of digital and analogue tools to create hidden meanings. I embed unexpected elements in the image, with the objective of producing new visual experiences each time my images are viewed.

Staycation
Being stuck inside, while imagining being somewhere else far away, is a feature of the enforced staycation we are currently living under as a result of Covid-19. My images thus combine physical elements of my home space with fragments of cityscapes from my photographic archive to create a surreal world where the effects range from the obvious to the very subtle.
Dublin’s Fair City
Dublin's Fair City was shot on a Rolliecord camera which uses 120 film. The vintage aesthetic of the camera and film are what drew me to use them for this project. The images show murder locations throughout Dublin that people walk by every day. Included in a book of the same title, these photographs are accompanied by text detailing the events that happened at each location. Using a creative approach to the layout, I created a feeling of mystery through the book, highlighting that not everything is so innocent and that things can be forgotten over time.
