My practice is usually centred around portraiture and fashion. I have extensive experience creating fashion editorial work. Self expression is a theme I draw on in my portraiture but also in my more abstract work. I have recently started to explore working with the moving image.
Creation in Confinement
My project is a moving image work that explores the restrictions of the Covid-19 crisis on Irish creatives working in a range of genres such as music, art and design. I am showing the different mindsets of the individuals, and their own particular ways of dealing with a global pandemic. Each video is made by the individual contributor themselves, and they discuss the impact of confinement on their practices and how they’ve coped. Video footage is shot on different formats such as VHS, iphone and dslr. The quality of the video and audio varies throughout the piece, creating a ‘home movie’ effect.
