Elia de Leon

I'm drawn to the way photography can reveal the extraordinary within the ordinary, and how it can capture both the joy and the sorrow of life. Through my work, I aim to explore the nuances of human experience and to offer a fresh perspective on the world around us. My photography is informed by a range of influences, from the great masters of documentary photography to contemporary artists who are pushing the boundaries of the medium. I'm particularly inspired by those who have a strong social conscience and a desire to make a positive impact in the world through their art. Ultimately, my goal is to use photography as a means of fostering empathy, understanding, and connection, and to inspire viewers to engage more deeply with the human experience.

Claustrophobic Living

This project explores the personal challenges of contemporary life amid a housing and economic crisis, through the lens of my current living situation. The yellowing walls of the home, exhausted expressions, and attempts to live comfortably amongst the clutter and chaos provide a critical commentary on this ongoing struggle.

Humdrum Homes

This project explores the sparse sense of community within new estates and the contagious spread of flavourless contemporary housing architecture in the Greater Dublin Area. The complete project can be accessed on my website.
