Valdis Alijevs
I’m a photographer based in Dublin who is drawn to the Irish landscape and Wicklow in particular, where I spent most of my childhood. My work focuses on the notion of the journey, documenting my trips and what I discover. My exploration leads me to finding unique areas. I also aim to promote environmental and conservation issues through my practice.
Around Wicklow
This project is derived from multiple journeys through the Wicklow mountains and reflecting on aspects of that landscape. Through a careful selection of locations I discovered along the way, I document my engagement with the terrain with my camera. This project is about revealing my knowledge of the mountains, focusing on the theme of exploration, and revisiting certain locations under different weather conditions to experiment with different modes of photographing.
