My recent project work has focused on the impact of flooding in Ireland where a compositing strategy was used to detail the effects of flooding. My other projects have focused on documentary work that were shot on Black and White film. I have been exploring the application of lens specific characteristics to individual images and my current project focuses on digital development processes.
Tomorrow's Flood
This project examines the increased risk that Ireland is facing today from the impact of widespread flooding. Sea levels in Ireland are expected to rise further from the already unprecedented increases of 3.6mm per year. The project contemplates how this worrying trend may develop and worsen over time, ultimately affecting our lives in the near future. Using a strategy of compositing, the images depict new areas of potential flooding and the adverse effects this will have on the social and physical landscape. The project intends to raise awareness to the real-world implications of such developments as a result of climate emergency, and how the threat of increased flooding will impact how we live our lives and move through the world.
