Mar Kubiak
My current body of work, 'Habitat', centres around body image and our bodies' relationship with nature. I primarily work in portraiture and I'm constantly inspired by painting, cinema, as well as my surroundings. I use colour, texture and narrative to explore themes of youth, loneliness and nostalgia, with a hint of surrealism. I also work out ideas through other mediums like drawing and printmaking.
Habitat
The project 'Habitat' by Mar Kubiak explores the relationship between the human body and nature. Stemming from her personal struggles with body image, this honest exploration balances nature and the body with hopes of showing the beauty in what we often struggle to perceive as beautiful. Our body is an ecosystem that needs to be taken care of, watered and respected like the flowers we tend.
