Kate Glennon
I am a Dublin-based visual artist. I have found photography to be the most effective way for me to explore the themes and subjects that interest me. Growing up at a time of great changes in human interaction, I am drawn to the emotional impact of these changes and how they affect human behaviour and relationships. My practice aims to evoke and to make the viewer contemplate their own emotional response to the ideas I explore. In a society where we create and choose what determines our online public identities, I aim to explore our private identities.
What is Left for Us Here?
What is Left for Us Here? explores my area of Dublin 12. Covid-19 lockdown restrictions unexpectedly evoked memories and nostalgia of childhood, e.g. feelings of familiarity, safety and wonder. Growing up in D12 our neighbourhood seemed vast and unknown, yet as we grow and leave to explore the world on our own the place where we grew up begins to feel small to us.
