Melanie Byrne
I live in a small town in Kildare. While studying I am also trying to build my portfolio and personal work. The passing of my grandfather gave me inspiration to photograph my family and friends which he had also loved doing. My current influences are Eugene de Salignac and Kirby Turnage. I am particularly interested in exploring histories and experimenting with still life.
This Was Him
The objects in this series were selected to represent my grandfather and what was meaningful to him, a reminder of who he was. This project was photographed in my home studio using different lighting and editing techniques. I wanted to create a vintage feel by constructing a dramatic/dark aesthetic.
Loneliness Outbreak
This project was produced during my time in isolation while waiting for results from a COVID test. This was a very difficult and lonely time and reflects a creative impulse despite the limitations of what I could photograph.
