Georgia Duff
I am a 20 year old photographer and feel my photographic style has grown while on this course, from being narrowly focus on portraiture, to street photography, still-life and the natural world. When documenting serious topics I tend to keep the images black and white as I feel it enhances their detail and direct communication.
Power
The idea behind the project Power was initially to capture the protests in the city centre about the anti-mask movement. Instead I ended up meeting a man called Mick McLoughlin busking on Henry St. and had a very long chat with him while he discussed the many social and mental health issues society suffers with today. His stories were very deep and the people he met in his lifetime were intriguing. I decided to incorporate him as the main face of social issues in general into this project, along with some images of the protest I documented.
Big Foot, Little Foot
Big Foot, Little Foot is a still-life project where I represented the growth of life through objects, and captured the human spirit through the items closest to us in each stage of life. I personalised this project, to showcase the items that portrayed my persona at each age, and completing this project gave me a huge sense of nostalgia as I was uncovering memories when digging for old toys of mine. I called the project Big Foot, Little Foot as a reminder that I still have the child I once was inside me, even as I grow older. The name is intended to visualise the idea that your younger footprint will always accompany you in your life challenges and no matter how old we get, we are still that child at heart.
