I'm from Leitrim. I've always been artistic and creative, and participating in this photography course has challenged me in ways that have benefited my creativity greatly. My favourite type of photography is portraiture. I love telling a story in photos and creating visual representations of concepts and ideas. I strive for a strong narrative voice to emerge when looking at my work, though not all images need to tell a grand story, there is often beauty in a 'useless' or 'redundant' image. I am influenced by, and find inspiration in a diverse range of cultural sources, such as music, poetry, books, advertisements, fashion shows and my classmates’ work. Most forms of writing can create very distinct and tangible images in my mind and recreating these images is really a joyous experience.
